Understanding the 4Cs
The 4Cs of diamond quality—color, clarity, cut, and carat weight—are essential factors in assessing a diamond's value and determining personal preferences.
- Color Most diamonds exhibit a transparent white hue, and leading gemological institutes assess diamond color based on this criterion. Diamonds are graded on a color scale from D (colourless) to Z (light yellow or brown).
- Clarity Clarity measures the presence of internal or external blemishes. The clarity scale ranges from Flawless (no imperfections visible under magnification) to Included (imperfections visible to the naked eye).
- Cut The cut refers to a diamond's proportions, symmetry, and finish. A well-cut diamond reflects light beautifully, maximizing its brilliance and sparkle.
- Carat weight Carat is a unit of weight, not size. Larger diamonds tend to be more valuable but keep in mind that the other factors (4Cs) also influence the overall beauty and worth of a diamond.
While colored diamonds are relatively new to the market, they hold higher value due to their scarcity. Presently, there is no standardized color grading system for colored lab-grown diamonds globally. Colormond is committed to pioneering a grading system specifically for colored lab-grown diamonds, aiming to become the first diamond jewelry brand to do so.
